Ahmet Fehim — Biography

Ahmet Fehim made his stage debut in 1876 at the Gedikpaşa Theatre, playing the servant Bonafis. In 1879 he went to Bursa, where he appeared in a Molière adaptation staged by Ahmet Vefik Pasha, then toured Anatolia with Fasulyeciyan. Back in Istanbul he joined Mınakyan's Ottoman Drama Company and later taught comedy at Darülbedayi. After the First World War he moved into cinema, making films for the Society of Disabled Veterans; among them he wrote, directed and starred in Mürebbiye (1919), directed Binnaz the same year, and appeared as an actor in Himmet Ağa'nın İzdivacı. Sources give his birth year as either 1856 or 1857; he died in Istanbul on 2 August 1930. His son was Münif Fehim Özarman.
