Zeynep Tokuş — Biography

After winning a beauty contest, Turkish actress Zeynep Tokuş stepped onto the screen in the late 1990s and became widely known as Zeynep in the series Deli Yürek. She later won an acting prize for cinema and a national ice-skating contest; today she has left acting and is known as a yoga instructor.

She grew up in Ankara and studied graphic design at Bilkent University. In 1998 she won the beauty contest held by the newspaper Star, and the offer that followed brought her the part in Deli Yürek. Her most notable step in cinema was the role of Sinem in Zeki Demirkubuz's Yazgı (2001), for which she won best actress at the 13th Ankara International Film Festival. She played Asiye in Vizontele and its sequel Vizontele Tuuba. On television she appeared in Kerem, Hırçın Menekşe, Esir Şehrin İnsanları, Bedel and Kardelen, and in 2004 she played Meltem in Çocuklar Duymasın for a time in place of Pınar Altuğ.

In March 2007 she won the Show TV contest Buzda Dans (the Turkish Dancing on Ice) after ten weeks. That year she also acted in Beyaz Melek, and in Umut (2009) she additionally worked as costume designer; in Aşkın Kıyameti (2022) she played a yoga teacher. She also has a radio background, having presented a programme on Capital Radio before she began acting. She prefers to keep her private life away from the press.
