Zeki Ayvaz — Biography

Zeki Ayvaz was born in the Akçaabat district of Trabzon in 1989. At his father's encouragement he took up goalkeeping at seven with Akçaabat Sebatspor, spending a decade there before his ability earned him a move to Trabzonspor. After three seasons with the club's reserve side, his contract was extended by five years in 2009, and around that time he was loaned out to 1461 Trabzon, where he made only a handful of appearances. Back at Trabzonspor, he was named the club's fourth-choice goalkeeper for the 2011-12 season.

He made his league debut on 10 November 2013 against Gençlerbirliği after an injury to Onur Kıvrak, but fell out of the squad the following season and went on loan to Balıkesirspor. A disappointing spell there led him to end that contract and rejoin Trabzonspor, before he later moved on to Akhisarspor. At youth level he had featured for Turkey's under-18s in a friendly against Germany in 2006, and in November 2013 he received his first call-up to the senior national squad from coach Fatih Terim, though he did not get on the pitch.
