Zeki Ayvaz — Biography

Zeki Ayvaz is a goalkeeper who came through the Trabzonspor youth system; he made his Süper Lig debut on 10 November 2013 against Gençlerbirliği, after an injury to Onur Kıvrak. The same month he was called up to the senior national squad but did not get on the pitch. Born in Akçaabat, he later continued his career at clubs such as Balıkesirspor, Akhisarspor and Muş 1984 Muşspor.

He started out at the age of seven at Akçaabat Sebatspor, at his father's urging, and played there for ten years; he was taken to Trabzonspor on Özkan Sümer's report. After three years in the reserve side, his contract was extended by five years on 20 May 2009 and he was loaned to 1461 Trabzon, where he kept goal in only 12 matches over two seasons. He was called up to first-team camps from time to time and was the club's fourth goalkeeper in 2011-12. Left out of the squad before 2014-15, he was loaned to Balıkesirspor; when he failed to deliver the expected performances there, he left in January 2015 and moved to the Süper Lig club Akhisar Belediyespor.

His first youth international came on 16 October 2006, a 5-3 friendly defeat between Turkey U-18 and Germany U-18. In November 2013 Fatih Terim called him up to the senior side for the first time, in place of Volkan Demirel, ahead of the matches against Northern Ireland and Belarus.
