Zafer Biryol — Biography

Zafer Biryol (born 2 October 1976 in Rize) is a retired Turkish professional footballer who played as a forward and later worked as a manager.

His club career included spells at Altay, Bursaspor, Çaykur Rizespor, Konyaspor, Mersin İdmanyurdu, Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe and Göztepe; he last played for Anadolu Selçukluspor. He finished the 2003/04 season as the top scorer of the Turkish Süper Lig. With 43 top-flight goals for Konyaspor, he is regarded as the club's all-time leading league scorer.

After his playing career he moved into coaching. In October 2022 he was arrested as part of an investigation into the Gülen movement's football network, and his prison sentence was upheld the same year.
