Yusuf Yazıcı

Yusuf Yazıcı — Biography

Yusuf Yazıcı is an attacking midfielder who came through the Trabzonspor academy and made his name with goals on Europe's big stages. He won the Ligue 1 title with Lille in 2021 and shared the UEFA Europa League top-scorer award that same season; today he plays for Olympiacos and for the Turkey national team.

He began playing at Trabzonspor in 2008. He signed his first professional contract in December 2015, and two goals against Rizespor made him the youngest scorer of that Süper Lig season. In 2017-18 he scored 10 league goals and was named by UEFA among the 50 young players to watch. In August 2019 he moved to Lille for 17.5 million euros, the highest transfer income in Trabzonspor's history. A cruciate ligament injury ended his first season there, yet in 2020-21 he scored Europa League hat-tricks against Sparta Prague and Milan, the first player to do so twice in the group stage. Loaned to CSKA Moscow in January 2022, he scored eight goals in his first six matches and was voted Russian Premier League player of the month in March.

In September 2024 he signed a three-year contract with Olympiacos; in his first match he injured his left knee and tore the anterior cruciate ligament, and in May 2026 he suffered a cruciate ligament injury for the third time. He debuted for the Turkey senior side on 11 June 2017 against Kosovo, has won 43 caps with 3 goals and 7 assists, and represented Turkey at Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
