Yusuf Tunaoğlu — Biography

Yusuf Tunaoğlu was a Turkish footballer born in 1946 in Istanbul who spent the bulk of his playing career at Beşiktaş. Teammates and pundits considered him one of the most gifted players of his generation, prized for two-footed shooting, quick acceleration, and dribbling skill that produced an unusually high goal tally for a midfielder.

He died on 22 July 2000 in the Kuşadası district of Aydın. Beşiktaş has continued to honor his memory every summer, gathering at his graveside on the anniversary of his death; the 2026 tribute marked 26 years since his passing.
