Yüksel Alkan — Biography
Yüksel Alkan (1 May 1931 - 23 November 2017) was a Turkish basketball player who represented Turkey in the men's tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics.
His date of birth is not recorded identically everywhere. Wikidata, the English and Turkish Wikipedias and DBpedia all give 1 May 1931, while the French Wikipedia gives 1 January 1931 - a date commonly used as a placeholder when only the year is known, so the majority reading of 1 May 1931 is followed here. The French entry also still refers to him as a living former player, whereas the other sources record his death on 23 November 2017.
