Yılmaz Gündüz — Biography

Yılmaz Gündüz (2 January 1929, Tarsus – 1997) was a Turkish athlete who went on to a second career in the Yeşilçam film industry as an actor, director, screenwriter and producer. He studied public finance at Ankara University's Faculty of Political Sciences while playing basketball and football.

As a basketball player he represented Turkey at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, appearing in the men's tournament. He moved into cinema with Sevenler Ölmez in 1963.

Through the 1960s and early 1970s he worked mainly in action and adventure pictures, among them Örümcek Adam (1966), Hedef Ankara (1966), Ringo Gestapo'ya Karşı (1967) and Belalı Serseri (1974). He acted in roughly twenty-five films and produced some seventeen, and he directed four features released in 1970: Ölüm Pazarı, Fedailer, Bela Çiçekleri and Öldürmeye Yeminliyim. He died in 1997.
