Yılmaz Gökdel — Biography

Born on 20 February 1940 in Istanbul, Yılmaz Gökdel was a Turkish footballer and coach nicknamed "Pire Yılmaz" (Yılmaz the Flea) for his pace on the pitch. He made his name playing for Galatasaray in the late 1960s and also earned caps with the national team during that period.

After retiring as a player, Gökdel moved into coaching and went on to lead numerous Turkish clubs over the course of his career, including a brief spell in charge of the Turkish national team. He died in his native Istanbul on 4 November 2019.
