Yeliz Açar — Biography
Yeliz Açar is a women's football defender who was born in Turkey and represents Azerbaijan internationally. She has spent most of her career with Istanbul sides, playing for Beşiktaş as the club rose through the women's divisions and for Fatih Vatan Spor, and in July 2025 she transferred back to Beşiktaş.
She took out her football licence at Zeytinburnu Spor on 19 March 2010 and made her debut in the 2011-12 Women's Second League for İstanbul Nurçelik Spor. In September 2013 she signed with Lüleburgaz 39 Spor; when that club withdrew from the league she moved to Karadeniz Ereğli Belediyespor in the second half of 2013-14 and played briefly in the First League. She then returned to Istanbul and joined Beşiktaş in the Third League: the team went up to the Second League in 2014-15 and to the First League in 2015-16, and Beşiktaş finished 2016-17 as First League runners-up. After three seasons she moved to Fatih Vatan Spor for 2017-18, and with that side she finished second in the league in 2020-21.
She first wore national colours for Turkey, in the girls' U-17 team in a friendly against Switzerland in March 2013. She later joined the Azerbaijan women's national team and played three matches in UEFA Women's Euro 2022 qualifying Group D and three in 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying Group E.
