Yaşar Kurt — Biography

Arşak Yaşar Kurt (Armenian: Արշակ Եաշար Քուրթ; born 16 August 1968 in Istanbul) is a Turkish rock musician, singer and songwriter of Armenian descent. He holds both Turkish and Armenian citizenship and is regarded as one of the more distinctive voices in Turkish-language rock.

Raised in a crypto-Armenian family, Kurt has said he only learned of his family's true origins in his forties. Interviews in which he described what followed his decision to speak publicly about that identity, and warned that the generation still able to speak Homshetsi is disappearing, were widely carried by outlets such as Agos, T24 and Bianet.

He continues to perform outside Turkey as well; a London appearance was announced for January 2026. His work is published through his official site, yasarkurt.com.
