Volkan Yılmaz — Biography

Volkan Yılmaz was born on 1 September 1987 in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul and has spent his professional life in Turkish football, up front as a forward. His career has taken him through an unusually long list of clubs scattered across the country — from Ankaragücü and İstanbulspor to Samsunspor, Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor, Elazığspor, Mardinspor, Akçaabat Sebatspor, Diyarbakırspor and eventually Gaziosmanpaşaspor.

His single taste of Turkey's top flight came on 14 April 2013, and as a young player he once wore the colours of Turkey's under-19 side. Later in his career he moved on to play for Kartalspor, spending most of his years working through the lower tiers of the domestic game.
