Volkan Yaman — Biography

Volkan Yaman (born 27 August 1982 in Munich) is a German-born Turkish former international footballer. A defender who was chiefly deployed at left-back, he was noted for his powerful striking of the ball. Some Turkish sources give his date of birth as 23 March 1983, but international records and German-language sources agree on 27 August 1982.

At club level Yaman played for Antalyaspor, Eskişehirspor, Galatasaray and Kasımpaşa, and also turned out for VfR Garching and SV Heimstetten in Germany. His spell at Galatasaray fell in the late 2000s and was covered regularly in the club's own bulletins. He was called up to the senior Turkey squad in 2007.

He is reported to have wound down his playing career in the lower divisions of German football; his marriage in Munich in 2017 was reported in the Turkish press.
