Volkan Babacan — Biography
Volkan Babacan (born 11 August 1988 in Antalya) is a Turkish international footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Standing 1.88 m, he has kept goal for İstanbul Başakşehir for many years.
He made his name at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship, where Turkey finished third. His full international debut came on 13 October 2014, in a 1-1 draw away to Latvia in qualifying for the 2016 European Championship.
In June 2026 the club announced that it had extended his contract by a further year, a decision reported widely in the Turkish press, including Cumhuriyet, Sabah and Sözcü. Some open-data records mistakenly give a national-team name as his birthplace; every reliable source points to Antalya.
