Volkan Aydın — Biography

Volkan Aydın is a retired Turkish basketball player born on January 11, 1969, in Kelkit. Standing 1.98 meters tall, he played as a forward and spent his professional career, from 1987 to 2001, with Efes Pilsen, Ülkerspor and Beşiktaş. Known chiefly for his defensive intensity, he also delivered clutch outside shooting that swung several important games in his teams' favor.

During his years at Efes Pilsen he won the Korać Cup, and a long-range three-pointer he sank against Aris from near midcourt in that final remains one of the most remembered moments of his career. After retiring as a player, Aydın moved into coaching, at one point taking charge of the basketball branch of Yeşilyurt Spor Kulübü.
