Umut Sönmez — Biography
Umut Sönmez (born 20 June 1993 in Varto, Muş) is a footballer holding both German and Turkish citizenship. He began his career in Augsburg's youth setup as a left-sided forward, later also featuring as an attacking midfielder, and has represented Azerbaijan's under-21 national team.
At club level he has played for several German lower-division sides as well as, in Turkey, Sakaryaspor. He won the Südbaden Cup with FC 08 Villingen in the 2018-19 season, a TFF Second League cup with Sakaryaspor in 2020-21, and the Württemberg Cup with VfR Aalen in 2023-24.
