Ümit Kurt — Biography

Ümit Kurt (born 2 May 1991 in Osmaniye) is a Turkish footballer, 1.84 metres tall, who plays as a defender. He began playing football in 2001 at the Osmaniye Akdeniz Football School, joined Ankaragücü's youth setup in 2008, turned professional in 2010, and made his official debut in the Süper Lig against İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor on 24 April 2011.

Kurt moved to Sivasspor in the second half of the 2012-13 season, where his performances drew the attention of several top clubs, including Turkey's traditional big four clubs, and led to a call-up to the senior national team in 2015. On 1 February 2016 he transferred to Çaykur Rizespor on a free transfer, underwent surgery during his time there, and returned to Sivasspor in 2020.

Later in his career he continued playing in the lower divisions, including a spell as a centre back for 24 Erzincanspor.
