Ulvi Güveneroğlu — Biography

Ulvi Güveneroğlu (born 26 July 1960) is a Turkish former footballer, coach and sports columnist. Sources split on his birthplace: Wikidata and DBpedia name Keban, while the Turkish and German entries give Elazığ. As Keban is a district of Elazığ province, the two readings agree rather than conflict.

A defender, he came through Beşiktaş's own youth system and spent the bulk of his career there, which is why club and supporter sources count him among the most significant figures in its history. German-language material credits him with roughly 400 top-flight appearances for the club — the same passage gives both 404 and 401 — leaving him second only to Rıza Çalımbay (494) among Beşiktaş players.

After retiring he moved into coaching and journalism. His removal from a club post in 2011 drew public protest from the association of former Beşiktaş players; he took up a role alongside Recep Çetin in May 2017, and in July 2021 Turkish media reported his appointment as head of the club's scouting department.
