Tutku Açık — Biography
Tutku Açık is a basketball player turned coach who played for years in the Turkish Basketball League as a point guard for Ülkerspor, Türk Telekom, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, and who now runs Bandırma Bordo Basketbol together with Haluk Yıldırım. He was known for his passing and his reading of the game, and ranked in the league's top three for assists.
He started in Ülkerspor's youth system and reached the first team in 1997; with little court time because of the depth of the squad, he was loaned in 1999-00 to Kolejliler in Ankara and returned a year later. In 2000-01, with a strong run late in the league and in the play-offs, he played a major part in Ülkerspor's title, and stayed with the club until 2005. He moved to Türk Telekom at the start of 2005-06 and to Galatasaray Medical Park in early 2010. In 2012-13 he played for Beşiktaş and won the Presidential Cup, a first in the club's history; he then spent a year at Trabzonspor and, in 2016-17, returned to basketball with Ankara DSİ. He was called up to the national team several times.
Turning to coaching, he returned to Galatasaray in a new role in 2018, then took charge of Bursaspor, a spell that ended in late 2020. He later coached Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor. In October 2025 he took up his post at Bandırma Bordo Basketbol with Haluk Yıldırım, and in June 2026 it was announced that the pair would continue.
