Turgut Uçar — Biography
Turgut Uçar was born on March 10, 1964, in İzmir. He began his football career at his hometown club Altay, turning professional in the 1982-83 season. He was transferred to Trabzonspor in the 1988-89 season, spending five years with the club, before going on to play for Gaziantepspor, Karşıyaka, Balıkesirspor and Soma Linyitspor. He retired from playing in 1999.
After hanging up his boots, Uçar moved into coaching, taking charge of clubs including Altay, Adanaspor, Akhisarspor, Uşakspor, Yozgatspor, Karşıyaka, Karabükspor, İskenderun Demir Çelikspor, Tokatspor and Bandırmaspor across various spells. His repeated returns to Altay and Karşıyaka in particular made him a well-known figure in İzmir football.
Hospitalized in late 2018 due to health problems, Uçar died in İzmir on February 3, 2019, after roughly three months of treatment.
