Tuna Kiremitçi — Biography

Tuna Kiremitçi (born 24 February 1973 in Eskişehir) is a Turkish poet, novelist, singer-songwriter and film director. He graduated from Galatasaray High School and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where he later pursued graduate studies in cinema and television.

In the 1990s he worked as vocalist and composer for the rock band Kumdan Kaleler, releasing the album Denize Doğru in 1996. His first solo album, Kendi Halinde, appeared in 2007, followed by collaborations with the band Atlas on Selam Yabancı (2013) and the EP Bir Uyumsuz Bulut (2015). The duets album Tuna Kiremitçi ve Arkadaşları (2017) won a Golden Butterfly Award in 2019.

In 2013 he directed the film adaptation of his novel Bu İşte Bir Yalnızlık Var, starring Engin Altan Düzyatan and Özgü Namal. He has written columns for Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet's Kelebek supplement and Aydınlık, and since 2020 has reviewed crime fiction for the weekly Gazete Oksijen. His books have been translated into 16 languages; his first crime novel, Mezun Cinayetleri, was published in 2021.
