Tolga Zengin — Biography

Tolga Zengin (born 10 October 1983 in Hopa, Artvin) is a retired Turkish international footballer who played as a goalkeeper. The 1.92 m keeper spent his entire professional career with Trabzonspor and Beşiktaş.

He began his career at Trabzonspor in 2002, and his impressive form at the start of the 2006–07 season earned him a first call-up to the Turkey national team for a friendly against Luxembourg in August 2006. He was part of the Turkish squad at UEFA Euro 2008 as a backup goalkeeper, with Turkey reaching the semi-finals; manager Fatih Terim even hinted he could be used as an outfield player amid suspensions and injuries, a tribute to his versatility.

One of his most memorable displays for Trabzonspor came in a UEFA Champions League group match against Internazionale in September 2011. After finishing his playing career at Beşiktaş, he went on to work as a football pundit.
