Tolga Öngören — Biography
Tolga Mevlüt Öngören, born August 18, 1963, is a Turkish basketball figure who built a career as a player, coach and sports executive. As a player he wore the jerseys of Şekerspor, Efes Pilsen and Tofaş.
After retiring as a player he took his first coaching post as an assistant at Purdue University in the United States, then returned to Tofaş, where he helped the club win a Turkish championship and gain EuroLeague experience. He served as an assistant coach for the Turkish national team that took silver at the 2001 EuroBasket held in Turkey, later spent a year and a half as head coach of Ülkerspor, had a brief spell with Türk Telekom, and returned to Tofaş for the 2006-07 season. In January 2008 he signed with German Bundesliga club Walter Tigers Tübingen, moved on to coach EnBW Ludwigsburg in the 2009-10 season, and ahead of the 2011-12 season signed a five-year coaching contract with Trabzonspor.
Öngören later shifted into club management, taking on the role of general manager at Tofaş, where he has overseen the team's participation in European competition. He is married to singer Rengin, and the couple has a daughter named Ela.
