Waiting for the Moon

Waiting for the Moon is a 1987 drama about American writer Gertrude Stein and her life partner and literary companion Alice B. Toklas. Written by Mark Magill and directed by Jill Godmilow, the film portrays the couple's shared life in Paris, at the heart of the period's literary and artistic circles, and traces the creative and personal bond between the two women. The cast includes Linda Hunt, Linda Bassett, Bernadette Lafont, Bruce McGill, Jacques Boudet and Andrew McCarthy. An international co-production involving the United Kingdom, the United States, France and West Germany, the film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
