Three Giants of the Roman Empire

Movie · 1971 · 2 people

Three Giants of the Roman Empire (original title: Il ritorno del gladiatore più forte del mondo) is a 1971 Italian adventure film directed by Bitto Albertini, who also wrote the screenplay. A late entry in the Italian peplum tradition, it is set in ancient Rome and follows a mighty gladiator who returns to fight for the oppressed and confronts a tyrannical power, blending arena combat, intrigue and rebellion in the style typical of the genre. American actor Brad Harris, well known at the time for musclebound heroic roles, takes the lead, supported by a cast that includes Giovanni Cianfriglia, Massimo Serato, Raf Baldassarre and Margaret Rose Keil. Running about 93 minutes, the picture belongs to the wave of historical adventure productions that Italian studios turned out from the late 1960s into the early 1970s. It was released in France as Le Retour du gladiateur le plus fort du monde and in Spain as El retorno del gladiator invencible.
