The Young Girls Turn 25

The Young Girls Turn 25 (French: Les demoiselles ont eu 25 ans) is a 1993 French documentary directed by Agnès Varda. A quarter of a century after Jacques Demy shot his beloved 1967 musical The Young Girls of Rochefort, Varda returns to the seaside town of Rochefort to retrace the making of her husband's film.

She gathers memories from local residents who took part in the production, mixing archival material with new footage of the town celebrating its cinematic past. Catherine Deneuve appears alongside other members of the original cast, and Demy himself reflects on the film. The result is both a tribute to a classic musical and a warm portrait of a community whose life was touched by the shoot.

The documentary was presented in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.
