The Patriots

Les Patriotes is a 1994 French spy thriller written and directed by Éric Rochant. It follows Ariel Brenner, a young Frenchman who cuts all ties with his family and travels to Tel Aviv to fulfill his long-held dream of becoming a Mossad agent. Arrested by the police shortly after his arrival, he eventually enters the demanding and shadowy world of Israeli intelligence, where he is put to use on missions first in France and later in the United States.

The story offers a fictionalized account of two separate operations attributed to the Israeli secret services: the acquisition of plans for the Osirak nuclear reactor in Iraq, later bombed by the Israeli air force, and a second storyline inspired by the Jonathan Pollard espionage scandal. Yvan Attal stars as Brenner, alongside Sandrine Kiberlain and Makram Khoury. The film was selected for competition at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.
