The Old Maid

The Old Maid (original title: La Vieille Fille) is a 1972 French-Italian co-produced comedy film written and directed by Jean-Pierre Blanc. Shot in Cassis, it marked the director's feature film debut and was praised for its rigorous construction.

The film is carried by its two leading performers, Annie Girardot and Philippe Noiret, who also served as co-producers, alongside a cast that includes Marthe Keller, Maria Schneider, Michael Lonsdale and Jean-Pierre Darras. The 85-minute picture was entered into the 22nd Berlin International Film Festival, where Blanc won the Silver Bear for Best Director.
