The Killer

Le Tueur is a 2007 French thriller directed by Cédric Anger. Shot in French, the film blends neo-noir and dramatic elements.

The story unfolds in Paris on Christmas Eve. Léo Zimmerman, a businessman devoted to his young daughter's happiness, discovers that Dimitri Kopas, a young man who walks into his office posing as an ordinary client, is actually a hitman who has come to the city to kill him. Once he learns that a bounty has been placed on his head, Léo spirals into sleeplessness and paranoia, until he finally resolves to confront his would-be assassin and strike an unexpected bargain.

The principal roles are played by Gilbert Melki and Grégoire Colin, with Mélanie Laurent, Sophie Cattani and Xavier Beauvois also appearing. The film screened at several international festivals, among them Rotterdam and Karlovy Vary.
