The Green Journey

The Green Journey (Persian: سفر سبز / Safar-e Sabz) is a 2001 Iranian television drama series directed by Mohammad Hossein Latifi and written by Hossein Pakdel. Filmed in Persian, it aired in 15 episodes on the state television channel IRIB TV3. The ensemble cast includes Parsa Pirouzfar, Amin Tarokh, Mohammad Reza Sharifinia, Sara Khoeniha, Gohar Kheirandish and Hamideh Kheirabadi.

The story follows a young Iranian-born man who was adopted as a baby by a German couple and returns to Iran in search of his biological mother, a journey that becomes one of identity and belonging. After its original 2001 broadcast, IRIB TV3 repeated the series in 2012 and 2016, and it was also shown on the Iranian entertainment network iFilm in 2012 — a sign of the lasting resonance the drama achieved with Iranian audiences.
