Summerfest (Sommerfest) (translated)

Sommerfest is a 2017 German comedy-drama film directed and written by Sönke Wortmann, based on Frank Goosen's novel of the same name. The story follows Stefan Zöllner, a stage actor who returns to his hometown of Bochum for what he expects to be a brief visit. His plan is straightforward: sell the house he inherited from his late father and head back to Munich within a few days. Reconnecting with his old world quickly complicates things. Former friends and acquaintances cross his path, and one encounter in particular — with Charlie, his youthful love — forces him to confront the past he left behind. Lucas Gregorowicz and Anna Bederke star in the leading roles. Produced by X-Filme Creative Pool, the film was shot in and around Bochum, and footballer Görkem Sağlam, then playing for VfL Bochum, appears in a small part. Running about 92 minutes, it opened in German cinemas in June 2017.
