Septembers of Shiraz

Septembers of Shiraz is a 2015 American drama directed by Wayne Blair from a screenplay by Hanna Weg, adapted from Dalia Sofer's 2007 novel of the same name. Set in the turbulent aftermath of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the story follows Isaac, a Jewish gem dealer in Tehran who is suddenly arrested by the new regime. While he faces interrogation and imprisonment, his wife Farnez struggles to hold the family together and secure his release, as the world they knew collapses around them.

Adrien Brody plays Isaac, with Salma Hayek as Farnez and Shohreh Aghdashloo as Habibeh; the supporting cast includes Gabriella Wright, Aslı Bayram and Navíd Akhavan. The English-language film runs about 110 minutes and had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 15, 2015, before reaching theatres through Momentum Pictures in June 2016. It was released in Canada as Enemy Territory and in France as Insurrection.
