Saint-Tropez Blues

Saint-Tropez Blues is a 1961 French comedy-drama written and directed by Marcel Moussy. Shot in 1959 and released two years later, the film is counted among the works of the French New Wave and takes its story to the famous Riviera resort town of Saint-Tropez.

The picture is remembered above all as a screen debut: it gave both Marie Laforêt and Jacques Higelin their first film appearances, with Higelin's very first record also tied to this production. The supporting cast includes Stéphane Audran, Fausto Tozzi and Pierre Michael, while Claude Chabrol appears in a small role. Running about 90 minutes, the film reflects the youthful, free-spirited sensibility associated with the early New Wave years in French cinema.
