Raja Hindustani

Raja Hindustani is a Hindi-language romantic action-drama directed by Dharmesh Darshan, released on 15 November 1996. Written by Robin Bhatt and produced by Cineyug, it draws on the 1965 film Jab Jab Phool Khile and follows a small-town taxi driver who falls in love with a wealthy young woman. Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor lead the cast, supported by actors such as Johnny Lever and Farida Jalal.

With music by Nadeem-Shravan and lyrics by Sameer, the film became one of the biggest commercial successes of the 1990s and the highest-grossing release of its year. It won five Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, while Kapoor's acclaimed performance earned her the Best Actress award and marked a major turning point in her career. The film was remade in Kannada in 2002 under the title Naanu Naane.
