Lejos del mar

Lejos del mar (Far from the Sea) is a 2015 Spanish drama film written and directed by Imanol Uribe, starring Elena Anaya and Eduard Fernández, with Verónika Moral among the supporting cast. The story follows a former ETA member who, after leaving prison, travels to the Almería region in southern Spain. There he forms a bond with the daughter of one of his past victims, and an unexpected relationship develops between them. Set against the stark Andalusian coastline, the film explores guilt, repentance and the possibility of forgiveness in the shadow of a violent history. The picture premiered in 2015 at the San Sebastián Film Festival and opened commercially in Spain in September 2016.
