La Passione

La Passione is a 2010 Italian comedy film directed by Carlo Mazzacurati. It follows Gianni Dubois (Silvio Orlando), a television director and screenwriter stuck in a creative crisis who is also facing a lawsuit. To get out of trouble he reluctantly accepts an unusual assignment: staging and filming a Passion play about the suffering of Christ in a small village in Tuscany. Surrounded by the village's eccentric inhabitants, the jaded filmmaker finds himself on an unexpected personal and professional journey. Produced by Fandango and Rai Cinema, the film features Giuseppe Battiston, Kasia Smutniak, Cristiana Capotondi, Corrado Guzzanti and Stefania Sandrelli among its cast. La Passione screened in competition for the Golden Lion at the 67th Venice International Film Festival and was released in Italian cinemas on 24 September 2010.
