Julius Caesar Against The Pirates

This 1962 Italian adventure film draws loosely on real episodes from the early life of Julius Caesar. While travelling by sea, the young Caesar is seized by pirates roaming the Mediterranean and held for ransom. Proud and defiant, he refuses to show fear and openly warns his captors that one day he will return to hunt them down and punish them. Once released, Caesar gathers his own forces and sets out to keep that promise, pursuing the pirates who dared to hold him captive.

Written and directed by Sergio Grieco, the film stars Gustavo Rojo, Abbe Lane and Gordon Mitchell. An Italian production, it mixes the story of a famous historical figure with the action and spectacle typical of the pirate adventure genre of its era.
