Je veux être actrice is a French-Belgian documentary directed by Frédéric Sojcher, which opened in French cinemas on 20 January 2016. Over its roughly hour-long running time, the film reflects on what it means to be an actor and where the urge to stand on a stage or in front of a camera comes from.

The documentary is built around conversations with well-known figures from different generations of French cinema. Performers such as Micheline Presle, Michael Lonsdale, Jacques Weber, Philippe Torreton, Patrick Chesnais, Josiane Stoléru, Yves Afonso, Jean-François Dérec and François Morel speak about their own paths and their understanding of the profession, while composer Vladimir Cosma also takes part. Together, these testimonies sketch a many-voiced portrait of acting as both a passion and a craft, shedding light on the continuity of the French acting tradition across the decades.
