Fatma, season 1

Fatma's first season is a six-episode Turkish psychological drama released on Netflix in 2021. It follows Fatma Yılmaz (Burcu Biricik), a quiet cleaning woman in Istanbul who lives with her autistic son Oğuz. Her husband Zafer vanishes shortly after leaving prison, and Fatma's desperate search for him unexpectedly pulls her into committing a murder. Because everyone around her treats her as invisible and insignificant, she initially escapes suspicion with ease, and one act of violence gradually leads to another as she confronts the people who have wronged her. What begins as a hunt for her missing husband turns into a portrait of a woman transforming into a killer, driven by grief, humiliation and years of being overlooked. Alongside Biricik, the cast includes Uğur Yücel, Mehmet Yılmaz Ak and Hazal Türesan. The series explores class, invisibility and rage beneath the surface of everyday urban life.
