Dick Turpin

Dick Turpin is a 1974 Spanish historical adventure film directed by Fernando Merino, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ricardo Palacios. José Truchado produced the picture, while Alfonso Santiesteban composed its music. Shot in Spanish, the film draws on the life of the legendary 18th-century English highwayman Dick Turpin, unfolding as a swashbuckling costume adventure set in England.

Iranian-born actor Cihangir Gaffari stars in the title role, joined by Inés Morales as Isabel, Sancho Gracia as Richard, Manuel Zarzo as Brassier and Rafael Hernández as Peter, with Helga Liné, Antonio Mayans, Paloma Cela, Cris Huerta and Ricardo Palacios also appearing. Art director Adolfo Cofiño designed the film's sets. Running roughly 94 minutes, the production brings a figure from English folklore to the screen through the resources of Spanish cinema.
