Detective Memoli (Dedektif Memoli) (translated)

Detective Memoli is a Turkish television series produced by Süreç Film in 2011. It is a remake of Yılan Hikâyesi, the series that aired between 1999 and 2002 with Mehmet Ali Alabora and Meltem Cumbul in the leading roles.

The story centers on Commissioner Memoli, a detective who cracks cases through his own unconventional methods; in this version the character is played by Emre Kızılırmak. The plot also follows Ezo (Özlem Yılmaz), a young woman who flees her village because of oppressive local customs, and Zeynep (Burcu Esmersoy), the screenwriter and star of a highly rated crime drama. As the paths of these three figures cross, crime-solving and comedy blend together.

The show proved short-lived. Burcu Esmersoy, claiming problems on set, left after the eleventh episode. Following the broadcast of the twelfth episode, the series was pulled from the air without its finale ever being shown.
