De Gaulle: Tilting Iron

De Gaulle: Tilting Iron (La Bataille de Gaulle : L'Âge de fer) is a 2026 French biographical historical film directed by Antonin Baudry, who co-wrote the screenplay with Bérénice Vila. Produced by Pathé, it is adapted from historian Julian T. Jackson's book "De Gaulle : une certaine idée de la France" and forms the first chapter of the two-film "La Bataille de Gaulle" diptych about Charles de Gaulle.

The story opens in June 1940 as France collapses and signs the armistice. Refusing to give up, the then-unknown general flees to London to continue the fight. Without an army or support, he gambles on convincing the world that the battle for France is neither over nor lost. Covering the years 1940-1942, the film stars Simon Abkarian as De Gaulle and Simon Russell Beale as Churchill, with Grégoire Colin also in the cast.
