Da Vinci's Demons is an American-British historical fantasy drama that imagines the untold early years of Leonardo da Vinci, portrayed by Tom Riley. Created by David S. Goyer and produced in partnership with BBC Worldwide, the series was filmed in Wales. Set in Renaissance Florence, it follows the young artist and inventor as he becomes caught between the political rivalry of the Medici and Pazzi families and the authority of the Catholic Church. At the same time, Leonardo pursues a legendary text known as the Book of Leaves, a search that draws him into contact with an ancient order called the Sons of Mithras.

The series debuted on Starz on 12 April 2013. Its second season arrived in March 2014, and the third and final season premiered in October 2015, bringing the total to 28 episodes. Over its run the show earned two Primetime Emmy Awards, for its main title design and original theme music, and was distributed to more than 120 countries.
