Crime d'État

Crime d'État is a French historical television film written and directed by Pierre Aknine, first broadcast on France 3 on 29 January 2013. It dramatizes the real-life political scandal surrounding the death of Robert Boulin, a French labour minister whose body was found near a pond in 1979. Although the authorities recorded the death as a suicide, the film challenges that account, arguing instead that Boulin was murdered or died at the end of an operation that spiraled out of control. Starring François Berléand and Daniel Mesguich, the period drama reconstructs the power struggles of the era, the involvement of state services and the way an uncomfortable truth was buried.
