Tarık Papuççuoğlu — Biography

After graduating from Galatasaray High School and the architecture department of the State Academy of Fine Arts, Tarık Papuççuoğlu was drawn into amateur theatre by a play he saw in Beyoğlu as a teenager and soon turned professional, performing with Devekuşu Kabare, Üsküdar Oyuncuları and, notably, Ortaoyuncular in many productions directed by Ferhan Şensoy. He became widely known playing Kebapçı Vakkas in the 1998 series İkinci Bahar, and cemented his fame as Müdür Amil Sağlam in Gani Müjde's Hayat Bilgisi (2003). His screen work also includes the film Arabesk (1988) and the series Düşman Kardeşler (2012); he has additionally hosted a television programme and appeared in commercials. He married Gülgün Akansu in 1971 and divorced her in 2001, then lived together again without remarrying after eight years apart; one of his daughters, Zeynep Papuççuoğlu, is also an actress. Still active past the age of seventy, Papuççuoğlu currently plays Tahir Hancıoğlu in the 2026 series A.B.İ., and underwent bypass heart surgery in June of the same year.
