Tara De Vries — Biography

Tara Madelein De Vries is a Turkish-Dutch model and beauty pageant titleholder born on October 6, 1999 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The child of a Dutch father and a Turkish mother, De Vries spent her earliest childhood years in the Netherlands before settling in Turkey with her family at the age of twelve. A citizen of the Republic of Turkey, De Vries has throughout her career been associated with ties to both her country of birth and Turkey.

After moving to Turkey, De Vries continued her education there, studying in the Business Administration Department of Koç University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, pursuing her university studies alongside her modeling work. Because her mother, Özlem Kaymaz, was chosen Miss Turkey in 1992, she has often been introduced in the Turkish press as "Özlem Kaymaz's daughter," and her name became widely known early in her career as a result.

De Vries's recognition grew mainly through the Miss Turkey beauty pageant, in which she took part in 2018. Placing second in the competition, De Vries won the title of Miss Universe Türkiye and thereby earned the right to represent her country in an international competition. That same year she represented Turkey at the Miss Universe pageant held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.

In interviews given after her pageant period, De Vries spoke in detail for the first time about an illness she had previously gone through, saying she got through this difficult process while preparing for the competition. Following her success in beauty pageants, she continued her work in modeling and has frequently appeared in the entertainment press together with her mother.
