Taner Akyol — Biography
Taner Akyol (born 1977 in Bursa) is a Turkish saz (bağlama) player and classical composer.
Based in Berlin, he studied composition at the Hanns Eisler School of Music. His two-act children's opera "Ali Baba und die 40 Räuber", with a libretto by Çetin İpekkaya, premiered in 2012 at the Komische Oper Berlin.
He performs with Sebastian Flaig and Antonis Anissegos in the "Taner Akyol Trio". He describes his music not as "Turkish folk music" but as Anatolian music, in reference to Anatolia's multicultural heritage.
