Sinan Engin — Biography

Sinan Engin was born on 4 November 1964 and joined Beşiktaş's youth academy in 1974, working his way up over seven years before making his first-team debut against Antalyaspor on 11 September 1982. The 1985-86 season brought his only league title as a player, and the following campaign was his most productive, making 34 league appearances and finishing as the league's assist leader with 11 assists. After leaving the club in 1990 he played for Adana Demirspor, MKE Ankaragücü and Sarıyer, winning the Prime Minister's Cup with Ankaragücü, before retiring from playing in 1994.

He went on to coach Kuşadasıspor, Boluspor and Ankaraspor, then joined Beşiktaş's management in January 2001, helping deliver the club's 2002-03 league title in its centenary season; he stepped away from the club in 2004 amid controversy over a reported phone conversation, before briefly returning to the post in 2007-08. He now works as a football pundit on Beyaz TV, regularly offering pointed commentary on Turkish football, particularly Galatasaray's European campaigns. His marriage to singer Seda Sayan produced a son, Oğulcan Engin, who also played football professionally for a spell before moving into television presenting.
