Sherron Mills — Biography
Sherron Mills was an American basketball player who, although drafted by the NBA, never played in the league and spent his career in European leagues; a 2.03 m forward, he also held a Turkish passport. He was born in Salisbury, Maryland, and died in Baltimore at the age of 44.
He first made his name at Snow Hill High School, leading the team to the 1989 Maryland 1-A state championship. He played college basketball at Virginia Commonwealth University and was selected 29th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1993 NBA draft. He never made an NBA roster, so he took his professional career across the Atlantic. Over about seven seasons he played in European competitions such as Spain's ACB, France's LNB, Italy's LEGA and the Turkish league.
His standout season was 1995-96, when he led Italy's Serie A in rebounding with Cx Orologi Siena. He then moved to Galatasaray in the Turkish Basketball League for 1996-97. Mills died on 17 January 2016.
