Seyfi Dursunoğlu — Biography

Seyfi Dursunoğlu, known on stage as Huysuz Virjin ("Grumpy Virgin"), was one of Turkey's best-known cabaret and talk-show entertainers. Playing a grumpy, sharp-tongued, largely improvised female persona, he made his name as a comedian who said on television what others would not, in a career that ran from the 1970s into the 2010s. He died in Istanbul on 17 July 2020.

After about eighteen years as a civil servant at the Social Insurance Institution, he quit and began performing in small clubs in 1970; appearances at the İzmir Fair spread his name. His national breakthrough came on a TRT quiz programme hosted by Öztürk Serengil. On private channels he reached a mass audience with his own shows, among them Huysuz Show, Huysuz ve Tatlı Kadın, Tatlı ve Huysuz Show and Dans Eder misin?. Citing pressure on broadcasters, he said in 2007 that he would stop playing the character; afterwards he presented without the costume and served as a judge on Benzemez Kimse Sana and Popstar Türkiye. He also appeared in the films Doğru Yoldan Ayrılanlar and Melek Yüzlü Cani and in series such as Avrupa Yakası.

He had announced beforehand that his estate would go to the Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği. A challenge brought by his nephews was rejected in 2025 and the will was upheld.
