Seyfi Dursunoğlu — Biography

Born Seyfettin Dursun on 1 October 1932 in Trabzon, Seyfi Dursunoğlu graduated from Haydarpaşa High School and worked for a time as a civil servant at the Social Insurance Institution before leaving that post in 1970 to perform on stage under the name "Huysuz Virjin" (Grumpy Virgin). Starting out in small clubs, he went on to host long-running programs first on state broadcaster TRT and later on private channels such as ATV, Show TV and Kanal D, becoming one of Turkey's best-known entertainment figures.

Known for largely improvised and unfiltered performances that periodically drew sanctions from Turkey's broadcasting regulator, he continued hosting a handful of shows without his drag persona from the early 2000s onward. Dursunoğlu died in Istanbul on 17 July 2020 at the age of 87. In 2025, a court rejected an inheritance challenge brought by his nephews, upholding his will and confirming that his estate passed to the Turkish charity Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği (ÇYDD).
